Eliza tells Bagehot to take Bella Vista without her seeing it, tells him of her progress in wedding arrangements and of an engagement with Mrs Carr to discuss servants for their household, notes that she saw Mr Conway this morning and assures Bagehot that she never had more than 'a pleasant kind of chatting friendship for him'.
