Typescript copies and summaries of letters from various sources. These include USPG [United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel] Archives Book II (1860-67), 'McDougall Papers, Rhodes House', Basil Brooke Papers, Rhodes House and 'Extracts from Bunyon's Memoir'.
The majority of the original letters were written by Bishop F.T. McDougall and Harriette McDougall with others by C.T. Longley, Archbishop of Canterbury, Revd Walter Chambers, Revd J Glover and Revd W Chalmers, Revd W Hackett and C.J. Bunyon.
The recipients include Revd W.T. Bullock, Charles Bunyon, Mrs Bunyon (Harriette's mother), Revd Ernest Hawkins, Eliza Bunyon, J. Brooke Brooke, S.P.G.[ Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts], The Guardian, Bishop F.T. McDougall, Revd E.B. Evelyn, Matilda Grant and John Grant.
The range of topics covered includes domestic, missionary, school and political affairs, including the ongoing difficulties that Bishop F.T. McDougall was having following an incident with pirates in 1862.
The letters were written from a number of locations including Singapore, Sarawak, Santubong and Kuching.
