Description:
Handwritten notes made for 'Flourish for the Bishop'. They cover 1847-1862. They come from a range of sources including Basil Brooke's papers, Harriette Mc Dougall's 'Sketches of our life in Sarawak', various publications and USPG [United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel] Box 2. Includes a calendar of events, 1849-1867, covering personal affairs of McDougall and Brooke families, mission, Sarawak political and world affairs, family tree, biographical information, key to Saint's note taking system and account of Chinese Insurrection in 1857. An unused dust jacket for 'A Flourish for the Bishop, Brooke's Friend Grant by Max Saint' which was found loose has been added to this file [1985].
