From Howard Sergeant to Roger Elkin; met briefly at NPS; RE claimed HS fell asleep during David Jacobs' reading and did not congratulate him; HS says he never claimed the Peterloo Competition would be rigged, but pointed out that one of the judges, Harry Chambers, would know the authors ahead of time; HS apologises to RE about the NPS reading upsetting him, John Latham was not at his best; HS congratulates RE on him being mentioned in the Surrey Competition; HS jokes about RE charming Jean, will let him know travelling arrangements; HS liked enclosed poems, not enough to use them, RE's work always welcome.
