It is clear that many of these documents were originally arranged on string files or in bundles. These were broken up long ago in order to extract items of particular interest or to rearrange their contents in subject files. In the process a good many documents were evidently destroyed. Those which remain have been restored to a chronological sequence which will facilitate relating them to references in the Chamberlain's accounts. The first few printed accounts have been indicated by (P) and in the first example of each, details are given of the engraver, printer, etc., if available.

Please note that there are examples of double dating within this series. Where the date before 1752 is between 1 Jan and 24 Mar, the equivalent modern year is given as well as the old year date e.g. 2 Feb 1711-1712.
