Deeds used by Hull Town Clerks as wrappers for administrative papers

Dates:
1604-1681

Description

Admin History:
Created during the process of various legal land transactions in the local area
Description:
Deeds listed in Stanewell's Calendar having no obvious connection either with the corporation or with one another. They have nearly all had seals and signatures removed and are generally in a filthy and mutilated condition. Endorsements on a few indicate their original purpose as covers for files of papers: 1691-1695 Court of Record Proceedings [C BRZ/15 or Stanewell D.858]; Odd Surrenders and other things concerning Myton [C BRZ/13 or Stanewell D.839]. Several have holes where papers or strings were attached. Although they were evidently used in connection with various archive groups most of these cannot now be identified and the deeds have therefore been grouped together as a single composite class.
