Description

Admin History:
Rev'd Canon Frank Geoffrey Hunter was the York Diocese Organ Consultant and the consultant for stages 2 and 3 of the City Hall organ renovation project. The City Hall organ was built by the Hull firm of Forster and Andrews for a cost of £4,328.00 and completed in March 1911. The first recital was given on 29th March 1911. Although there had been some repair work undertaken in the 1950s after damage during the Second World War, by the 1980s the organ was in real need of renovation. Phase one was undertaken in 1985 but it was not until later that work on phases two and three could be considered. Work started in 1988 and was completed in 1991, with the firm of Rushworth and Draper involved.
