- The letter is headed with the address: Rowbarns Grange, East Horsley, Near Leatherhead, Surrey. It states that David was born on 13 Dec 1843 and that he entered into the business of his father, Thomas Sissons Jnr in August 1859, aged 16. He then, together with his brother, Thomas Hall Sissons, became a partner in the year 1867. (Please note that Anthony Sissons' unpublished book gives the date of the co-partnership as 1876), being formalized from 1 Jan 1880 in an agreement dated 30 Dec 1880, and applied to the businesses in both Hull and Barton-on-Humber and until David retired in 1920
