This letter announces Richard Sissons' retirement from the Industry with effect from 30 Jun 1963. Richard Sissons joined the Company in 1926 and was a director for 33 years. He took a keen interest in industry affairs and in particular the National Paint Federation. During the 1930's Richard was a member of a number of Federation Committees. After the war, on returning from service with the R.A.F, he represented his firm on the Federation Council from 1950-1962 and subsequently became a member of the first Council of the Paintmakers Association. He was Chairman of the Hull and Yorkshire Paint Maufacturers Association in 1954/55 and President of the National Paint Federation in 1955/56. Over the period of his service with the company he witnessed the development of the 160 year old business from a family concern into a world-wide organisation with overseas factories in Eire, the Far East, Africa and the Caribbean
