Description

Admin History:
Bedell Suddaby (1864-1944) was a solicitor and Commissioner of Oaths. Born in Hull, Suddaby was articled to the firm of Stead and Sibree and took over the practice on Bishop Lane on the death of John David Sibree in 1906. On his own death in 1944, it was noted that Suddaby was one of the city's oldest serving solicitors. Peter Basil Wright (1917-1981) was taken into partnership with Suddaby just before the start of World War Two. During the war he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps. The legal practice moved to Alfred Gelder Street in 1952. As with many solicitors, most of their work appears to have been related to the administration of wills and property, although they did take on various other cases, such as litigation and naturalisation.
