Description

Admin History:

David Lister High School, situated on Rustenburg Street, opened in 1964 and was Hull's first comprehensive school. The school closed in August 2012.

Greatfield High School opened in 1957. It comprised of three halls: Newton Hall (a Technical High School), Elizabethan Hall (Secondary Modern) and Shakespeare Hall (Grammar School). Due to rising pupil numbers Newton Hall became a joint Technical/Grammar School and Shakespeare Hall, a second secondary modern school. In 1969 reorganisational changes amalgamated Newton and Elizabethan Hall, thus creating Greatfield High School. Shakespeare Hall became a Junior High School. In 1988 the school closed due again to educational reorganisation.

After many internal changes to the school buildings Isaac Newton School opened in September 1995 on the grounds of the old Greatfield High School. The school closed in August 2006, at which point many of its pupils were transferred across to the David Lister High School.
