This collection was acquired by purchase from a bookseller in Sheffield. It is believed to have been part of a collection dispersed from premises in Bowlalley Lane (Presumably No. 12) when they were being redeveloped. A collection of published accounts of the Hull Dock Company 1786 - 1866 and copies of Lightfoot's pamphlets, now DMX 297, is believed to have had the same origins but was acquired separately.

This material was purchased with the help of the Alderman Rupert Alec-Smith Fund for Kingston upon Hull.
