Admin History:

The collection includes papers relating to Captain Patrick Hughes. Patrick Hughes was born 23 March 1841. At some stage in his youth he decided he did not wish to become a Minister of Religion (CofE) as his brothers had and later joined the Navy. He married Mary Hurst in Hull and had two daughters, Elinor and Alice. He left the Navy in 1911 and later worked as Captain for the Wilson Line. Patrick Hughes died in Hull in December 1919.
