Miss Annie Major was the first woman to hold the office of Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull during the year 1965. During the Second World War she was a Divisional Woman Warden for the South Western Division (District 25) of the A.R.P. service in Kingston upon Hull with particular responsibility for war orphans.
