The Juniors and Infants block was opened on the 11 Aug 1925. The Senior Boys and Senior Girls blocks were opened 3 Mar 1930. On 11 Jul 1941 the Junior and Infants schools were closed due to enemy action. After 1945 the Senior Boys and Senior Girls schools became a Junior High School. The school was reorganised in 1969 and closed in 1988.
Description:
(Photocopy) Diary or Log Book of events was kept by the Head Teacher, who entered in it events such as introduction of new books, apparatus, visits, absences, failure in duty of staff as well as explanation of the reason for closing the school, such as school holidays. The Log Book covers the Second World War, and therefore contains reasons for closures (including times and dates) relating to air raids for example. Whilst there are references to teachers, these concern teachers being sent to other schools, salary increases and their attendance etc. There are no references to individual pupils, though numbers of pupils are given. Also recorded are inspections of the pupils, such as those concerning dental and weight examinations. Again, no pupils are identified individually.
