Mr Enevoldson was born in Hvinde Sande, a major fishing port in Jutland. His family were farmers, and due to sub-division inheritence the resulting land parcels were too small to be viable. Giving up his land to his siblings Mr Enevoldson turned to fishing and moved to Hull around 1885. He became one of the most successful Hull skippers in the early 20th century.

He was lost at sea in March 1933 when the ship Lord Derramore struck an iceberg off the North Norwegian coast.

The papers include documents collected by Mr Enevoldson during the normal course of his business and letters, obituries, newspaper cuttings collected by his family after his death.
