Admin History:
The New Zealand was built by Cook Welton and Gemmell for the Hull Steam Fishing & Ice Co Ltd in 1897. Between 1916-1920 it was in Admiralty Serviceas a Boom Defense Vessel, after which it returned to work for Hull Steam Fishing before being scrapped in 1937. In 1917 Cochranes of Selby built a ship for the Imperial Russian Navy called the T19. This was captured by the Royal Navy in 1918, where it worked as a minesweeper and was renamed the Poleaxe. It was then sold to Kelsall Brothers in 1921 who renamed it the Dorbie. In 1932 it was shipwrecked off the Pentland Firth, with all the crew surviving.
