Description

Admin History:
Geoff Nicholson was born in Hull in 1946 and would go on to attend Hymers College and then Nottingham University. Qualifying as a teacher, Geoff worked mostly in Bedford before returning to Hull in the early 1990's. Developing an interest in photography at a young age, Geoff became a member of Hull YPI Camera Club in the early 1960's, from when most of these photographs date. The images of New Holland Pier and King George Dock though, are from a little earlier, around 1958/1959 and were taken on a Box Brownie camera. Geoff rowed at Hymers and for Kingston Rowing Club as well. The pictures of the Hull University Rag floats were taken from the back of his home. Geoff took a particular interest in Hull docks and the trawler industry and this is reflected in many of the images in this collection.
