Admin History:
Samuel Rayner was born in Hull on 23 April, 1871. He joined the Merchant Navy and in 1901 signed on the Glasgow registered S.S. Isis for a tour of duty that took him to Australia via South Africa. Samuel returned to the United Kingdom, where he married Martha Jane Crane in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire in 1919. He died in Berghapton, Norfolk on 14 Feburary 1948.
