This seriescontains records of the Hull Jewish Friendship Club, founded in 1953. Jewish Friendship Clubs were formed throughout the country as regional branches of a national Association under the auspices of the League of Jewish Women. These clubs were formed with the intention of providing welfare support for the Jewish elderly through visits and the organisation of activities in order to tackle the problem of loneliness. The Hull branch is believed to be the longest surviving club.
