- File contains papers relating to the Villa Place Cemetery situated just off Walker Street. The cemetery is thought to be the first Jewish cemetery in Hull and was used for burials between 1750 and 1812. It then fell into disuse but continued to be owned by Hull Old Hebrew Congregation. It was eventually conveyed by Deed of Gift to Humberside County Council on 21 Mar 1975 for conversion into an extended school playing field, and burials from the cemetery were re-interred at Marfleet Cemetery. Papers include press cuttings relating to the cemetery, photographs of the cemetery site subsequent to its conversion as a school playing field, correspondence, maps and plans of the site though not of the burial plots, copies of the draft and final Deed of Gift by which the cemetery was conveyed to Humberside County Council, short article written by Dr Lewis titled 'The First Jewish Cemetery c1780-1812.
