File contains papers relating to Jews [residing in Hull and surrounding area?] involved in court cases and include photocopies of original documents held in other repositories, an index of Jews in court cases compiled by Dr David Lewis, notes, and photocopies of press cuttings etc. Papers relate to the following cases: Case against Lewis Marks for disinterring a baby from Delhi Street Cemetery in 1865; Case against Myers Pike accused of stealing two coats and a dress belonging to Davis Levi in 1851; Case against Isaac Goldstein accused of stealing a watch chain and seal belonging to George Davey in 1849: Comment regarding the case against the man Bennet of Hull fined under the Lords Day Act from the Scarborough Evening News in 1896; Case of Rose Sugarman, wife of Myer Sugarman against Casril Vinegrad, both of Coltman Street, Hull regarding a dispute over a loan, Kings Bench Division 1923.
