- Article entitled 'Lifelong work for Hymers College' announces the death of Mr Ernest Harold Jabez Chambers aged 76. Chambers was a Hull solicitor and three times under sheriff of Hull. He was the son of a Methodist Minister, the Rev. Jabez Chambers, of Driffield and was one of the first pupils of Hymers College in 1893. In his adult life he was on the Hymers College Board of Governors, a position he held until his death. He was also a former chairman and president of the Hull Subscription Library.
