The file is concerned with the operational requirements of the Upper Whitton Lightship. This includes the following: correspondence regarding the ship’s crew, 'Equipment Requirements' (Form A), 'Equipment Received' (Form C), and Humber Conservancy notices to mariners issued by the Board's Secretary to the various companies using the Humber Estuary regarding changes to the Lightship. There is also correspondence from the Lightship's Captain addressed to Arthur Ernest Butterfield, Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board, regarding volume of paraffin fuel received, stored, and consumed by the Lightship on a monthly basis.
