- Description:
- File comprises correspondence between the engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board, various ship repairers and boat builders, John L Thornycroft Ltd. Leeds (engine suppliers), and equipment suppliers, regarding the operation, maintenance and overhaul of the Board’s motor launch Sounder. There appears to have been major engine pump failure problems whilst the vessel was working in shallow waters. The vessel was based at the Brough Depot and because of its relative remoteness there was a recommendation for special tools required for maintenance to be located at Brough. The Sounder appears to have replaced the Rosemary, and a specification for the Rosemary’s replacement is included.
