- File comprises correspondence between the engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board, various ship building companies and equipment suppliers (for propellers, winches, etc.), the Ministry of Transport, London, and Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, Hull, regarding the construction of a new buoy ship for the Board, which replaced the Board’s vessel, B.Y. Queen. Includes a report on the Queen, a specification for the vessel, and tenders from various ship building companies. The Board Purchased the vessel S.S. Charles McIver (later to be re-named J.H. Haworth) from the Lancashire and Western Sea Fisheries Joint Committee, and fitted stronger winches etc. to it. Also includes correspondence with Thos. McLaren and Co. Ltd. Glasgow, regarding the terms and conditions for the sale of the vessel.
