Description:
Comprises correspondence between the Chief Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board, various ship repair companies, Chance Brothers Ltd., Smethwick, the Ministry of Transport, London, and various timber suppliers, regarding the repair and maintenance (including lighting) of the automatic Chalderness tide gauge, beacon, and jetty, near Barton. Includes a specification regarding the proposed lighting system, from Chance Brothers Ltd., including drawings, as well as correspondence regarding damage to the tide board and jetty in June 1961 by the vessel M.V. Vinny. The Vessel Regality also collided with the jetty and tide board in October 1959. An electrical supply to the beacon was supplied by the Yorkshire Electricity Board in late 1953.
