Description:
Comprises correspondence between the Chief Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board, the Docks and Harbour Authorities, Westminster, the Home Office Explosives Branch, Whitehall, the British Transport Commission, Hull, various shipping agents and shipping companies, and Messrs Jacob Larvin (Stevedores), regarding the guide to regulations concerning the conveyance of government explosives in harbours: port of Hull. Notes there is a recognised anchorage called Hawke Road 16 miles down river from Hull, near Sunk Island, which can be used to load ships of more than 25 tons of explosives. Includes correspondence regarding the loading of about 500 tons of explosives onto the vessel Benlawers at Immingham.
