Comprises correspondence between the Chief Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board, various ship repair companies, and the Marconi International Marine Communications Co. Ltd. London, regarding the operation, maintenance and repair of the No. 14 Spurn Lightship. Includes a specification for the drydocking and overhaul of the lightship, a list showing diesel fuel consumption from January 1960 to February 1962, as well as correspondence regarding a problematic master clock (time control timeswitch) and faulty fog signal equipment.
Cook, Welton and Gemmel Ltd., Beverley, constructed a new light vessel, No. 13, so the file contains specifications for all sorts of equipment for this vessel, as well as the testing of it before it goes into service. This vessel was taken over by the Board on 19th May 1959.
