The file consists of correspondence between the Engineer to the Humber Conservancy Board (Arthur Ernest Butterfield), the Royal Air Force (RAF) base at North Coates, Grimsby; London Trinity House; G. T. Earle and Company Limited; and M. Hird and Son, Steeplejacks. The subject matter of the correspondence is the Donna Nook Beacon. This includes discussions relating to maintenance and repairs, including specifications for the repairs and cement coating of the Beacon. The file also includes correspondence connected with the ultimate demolition of the Beacon by the RAF. Photographs showing the demolition of the Beacon by the RAF on 12 June 1944 by means of explosives can be found within the file.
