Description:

A package containing papers surrendered to the Aire and Calder Navigation on 2 May 1903 by Tom Acaster. The papers are connected with Leasehold premises (No. 55) situate in Foundry Lane in the town of Goole, Yorkshire. The package includes the following:

Deeds (1833–1903):

1. Lease for 99 years (5 August 1833): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to John Wilson. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and the following representatives of the Navigation: Sir William Mordaunt Milner, Richard Fountayne Wilson, John Spencer Stanhope, and Sir John Lowther.

2. Counterpart of Lease for 99 years (5 August 1833): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to John Wilson. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee.

3. Mortgage of Leasehold (4 November 1840): John Wilson (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Joseph Bowman. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee.

4. Further Charge on Leasehold (4 November 1846) to secure £100: John Wilson (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Joseph Bowman. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties.

5. Assignment of Leasehold (3 August 1853): John Wilson and Joseph Bowman his Mortgagee (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to George Bussey. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, William Wheldrake, and John Dunkrow Hall on behalf of the Navigation.

6. Assignment of Leasehold (21 April 1863): George Bussey (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to William Wheldrake. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

7. Mortgage of Leasehold (7 October 1864) for securing £1000: William Wheldrake (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to James Beachell. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

8. Assignment of Leasehold (24 May 1876): William Wheldrake and James Beachell (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Edward Wright. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

9. Surrender of Leasehold (14 August 1882): Edward Wright to Andrew Montagu and others (Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation). The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and the following representatives of the Navigation: Andrew Montagu, William Aldam, Walter Thomas William Spencer Stanhope, and Francis Darwin.

10. Lease for 99 years (15 August 1882): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to Edward Wright. It includes a plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and the following representatives of the Navigation: Andrew Montagu, William Aldam, Walter Thomas William Spencer Stanhope, and Francis Darwin.

11. Counterpart of Lease for 99 years (15 August 1882): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to Edward Wright. It includes a plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee.

12. Assignment of Leasehold (10 June 1887): Edward Wright (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Tom Acaster. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Marmaduke Storr Hodson on behalf of the Navigation.

13. Surrender of Leasehold (2 May 1903): Tom Acaster to the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and bears the seal of the Navigation.
