Description:

Two packages containing papers surrendered to the Aire and Calder Navigation on 1 June 1907 by John Clegg and Robert Blair, the Trustees of Thomas Clegg. The papers are connected with Leasehold premises (No. 33) situate in James Street in the town of Goole, Yorkshire. The package includes the following:

Deeds (1838–1907):

1. Lease for 99 years (6 August 1838): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to Robert Rhodes. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee, and the following representatives of the Navigation: Sir William Mordaunt Milner, Richard Fountayne Wilson, John Spencer Stanhope, and Sir John Lowther.

2. Counterpart of Lease for 99 years (6 August 1838): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to Robert Rhodes. It includes an inset plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasee.

3. Assignment of Leasehold (31 May 1854): Robert Rhodes (with the consent of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation) to Thomas Clegg. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned parties, and Thomas Fisher on behalf of the Navigation.

4. Surrender of Leasehold (31 August 1887): Messrs John Clegg and Robert Blair to the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasees, and William Aldam on behalf of the Navigation.

5. Lease for 99 years (1 September 1887): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to John Clegg and Robert Blair. It includes a plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the following representatives of the Navigation: Andrew Montagu, William Aldam, Walter Thomas William Spencer Stanhope, and Francis Darwin.

6. Counterpart of Lease for 99 years (1 September 1887): the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation to John Clegg and Robert Blair. It includes a plan showing the land and property in question. The Deed has been signed and sealed by the aforementioned Leasees.

7. Surrender of Leasehold (1 June 1907): the Trustees of Thomas Clegg deceased and another to the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation. The Deed has been signed and sealed by John Clegg, Robert Blair, Harriet England, and Samuel Barraclough on behalf of the Navigation. It also bears the seal of the Trustees of the Aire and Calder Navigation.
