A register of ships recorded entering and leaving Alexandra Dock, Hull. It provides the following information in respect of each ship: date and time of arrival, name of ship, draft of ship (on arrival and departure), captain's name, where from, destination, registered port, cargo (inwards and outwards), the number of sloops and keels used to load/unload the vessel, and any further remarks. It also notes the number of ships in the Dock at midnight.

The volume also records details of high and low water levels, and the depth of water in the Dock at tidal level. It also includes weather observations, including wind barometer readings, made from the Dock; a chart explaining the symbols used can be found in the inside front cover of C DPD/7/2/3.
