We shot our trawl on the 11th December with our head towing in the South West and the wind freshened with heavy squalls about 10 O'Clock pm and at 12 O'clock we hove our gear up and double reef main sail , double mizen , reef foresail and storm jib. The heavy gale then blew fron NW at eight O'clock am til one O'clock am which we drove with a third reef main sail , third reef mizen , storm jib , and no foresails up. And battened her down with tarpaulins nailed over the hatches , and clear decks for running, carried away the lower dead eye. That is the only damage we did.
