Memoranda by Skipper. On November 19th 1893, we sighted a barque, the Auguste Jeanette of Barth Germany, with foremast & main mast gone in a water logged condition. We laid by him all night & took the crew off at day light. Ten hands all told. We brought the crew in our vessel to Hull arriving here this morning. We had steamed 30 miles after having placed the above crew on board of our vessel, when we fell in with the smack Beautiful of Grimsby, in a helpless condition riding with his anchor down. He stated that he required assistance & we took him in tow, bringing him to Hull, together with the Auguste Jeanettes crew.
