17 August 1897 North Sea. No damage to our vessel. Collision with smack William Grange of Grimsby owing to her trying unsuccessfully to cross our bows whilst we were laid dead. She was cut down to the waters edge & Commencing to fill, sank in 45 minutes. Crew escaped in their boat.
