About 9.30am 22/3/99. James W Elliott, boatswain. Missing, supposed to have fallen overboard whilst getting the line out of the boat. Due to lurch or rolling of vessel.

Record of Casualty.

As above. Loss of lead & about 2 fathoms of line attcached. Supposed due to deceased clinging to the lead when he went overboard & the line becoming jammed between a cask & part of the steering gear on deck, the strain caused it to part.
