Official Log.

On December 15th 1907 at 10am we sighted the SS Clara Blumenfeld of Hamburg laid on the starboard tack with a heavy list to port, flying signals of distress. The Grimsby trawler SS Rinto was laid by her I bore down to her as close as I could and the crew were all on deck with life belts on, signalled to us to come and fetch them off. I launched my boat manned by my mate A Firth and 4th hand W Davis as our boat got alongside the port lifeboat of the Clara Blumenfeld was first leaving with 17 hands which went on board the SS Rinto. My boat took 3 of her crew and brought them onboard my vessel. I then saw that the captain and remainder of his crew were leaving theiir ship and going on board the Rinto. I then transferred these 3 men, August Lenz, Herman heert and Peter Boos to the Rinto who landed them at Grimsby.
