Official Log. November 6th whilst steaming to fishing grounds after heavy gale of wind we came in sight of Swedish Barque in a sinking condition. With captain , mate, and four sailors on board. My 2nd hand, boatswain & 1st engineer went in the boat to fetch them, owing to heavy sea and rocking, they got the mate & 3 sailors they then had to come back to the ship owing to the boat drifting in the heavy sea.Ithen towed the boat to windward of the barque, the same men went again, owing to the dark they had to take a light in the boat, they got the other sailor but the captain attempting to get in the boat fell among the wreckage and was seen no more. I then proceeded to Hull and left Barque drifting with the wind.
