October 13 1885 North Sea about 70 miles from Spurn W by S, we fell in with the smack John Bright of Grimsby GY330 in distress took him tow as far as the Bull light & then gave him in charge of a tug boat to take him to Grimsby.

October 28 1885 8am Silver Pits about 70 miles from Spurn. Mast head carried away & topmast. Blowing a gale at the time & heavy sea running.
