C E Boyce skipper. 25th May 1889 North Sea. Part of 1st & 3rd fingers on right hand taken off. Trapped in steam winch whilst heaving the gear.

Memoranda by Skipper. Mr C E Boyce the skipper was transferred to the Thomas Gray on the 25th May & on the following day proceeded to London by cutter from where he telegraphed the owner to send another skipper in his room one was at once sent but in error went to the wrong fleet. After waiting in vain for some days I therefore sailed for Hull & reached port on June 18th. Signed J A Lancaster 2nd Hand.
