Memoranda by Skipper. In consequence of the cook J H Hewson, being so lazy & filthy dirty I had to send home on January 7th 1891 for another cook at the same time reducing Hewsons wages to 1/- per week as he was only fit to coil pipes etc. As I could not send Hewson to Hull only via London he cried to me & asked to remain onboard until the ships arrival at Hull which I granted.
