19/11/91 North Sea. Lost our trawl, trawl heads , beam, dandy & bridles. Through the bridles being cut by some person or persons unknown.

Memoranda by Skipper.

About 10 O'clock on the night of Thursday the 19th of November. The 2nd hand came to me when I was below & told me that some part of the gear had gone , as the warp had come slack. I at once proceeded to get steam up & at about 12 O'clock we got our warp up & found that the bridles had been cut, that we had lost all the gear except the warp. I questioned all the crew but none admitted having cut the bridles or that they knew anything about the matter. Again on the morning of the 22nd we found on heaving up our gear that a 2nd set of bridles had been cut, but fortunately being calm the damage was not sufficient to cause the loss of the gear. The crew were again questioned and as none admitted the offence I determined to bring the vessel back to Hull & reached port on Wednesday the 25th of November.
