Hull Pharmacists' Association is a local branch of the Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (founded 1841), granted royal charter in 1843, and titled the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain from 1988. Prior to 2010 the Society was the statutory regulatory body for professionals working in the pharmaceuticals industry. Its objectives were to lead, regulate, develop and promote the pharmaceutical profession, and all pharmacists working in Great Britain were required to be members. In 2010 the statutory function of the society was transferred to the General Pharmaceutical Council, and the society changed its name to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS).
