- Constitution of the Hull Philharmonic Society stating the aims and objects of the Society to 'be the study and practice of orchestral music, in order to foster public knowledge and appreciation of such music by means of public performance'. Clauses in the constitution include: Society to consist of Patrons, Honorary Members, Orchestral Members; Honorary Officers to be President, Vice-Presidents, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Orchestral Secretary, Treasurer, Musical Director, and Librarian; Executive Committee to be responsible for entire management of the Society and shall consist of Honorary Officers and no more than 20 other members; No less than 10 members of the Executive Committee to be competant to act as a quorum; Any two patrons and/or orchestral members and members of the society to have the right to nominate a member to serve on Committee at AGM; Executive Committee to have power to co-opt additional members; Chairman of Executive Committee to be elected at its first meeting after AGM; Honorary Secretary and Assistant Secretary to have custody of all documents belonging to the Society and to keep full and correct minutes; Honorary Treasurer to keep Accounts and to make up Annual Statements of the accounts and balance sheet; Honorary Orchestral Secretary to be responsible for all secretarial work in connection with the Orchestra; Honorary Librarian to be responsible for Society's music Library and obtaining necessary music for rehearsals and concerts; Annual subscriptions to be fixed by Executive Committee; Persons with subscriptions in arrears for 12 months shall cease to be members; Executive Committee to have power to request resignations of any patrons or members; Executive Committee to have power to alter rules subject to confirmation at AGM or Special General Meeting; Society may receive donations, grants, or financial guarentees and to have power to issue reduced tickets to active members; Income and property of the Society to be applied solely towards its objects as set forth in the Rules; Society may raise, borrow or invest surplus funds 'in any way necessary' to benefit its activities; All monies standing in credit to the Society should it be dissolved shall be handed to some charitable Society or Association having similar aims and objectives.
