Description

Admin History:
The Dikes Scholarship was created in appreciation of the work of Reverend Thomas Dikes (d 1847), one of Hull's leading evangelical clergymen and first minister of St. John's Church, Hull. It provided part payment for the education of students at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Appointment of such scholars was vested in the Reverend Thomas Dikes himself until his death in August 1847 and subsequently a Board of Trustees known as "The Trustees of the Dikes' Scholarship".
