They are arranged alphabetically by surname of the deceased. Smee and Ford charged the Society on an annual basis for sending out these notifications. The annual figure, for example, for 1982 was £25.00 plus VAT. A letter detailing Smee & Ford's charges is filed in the first file marked 'A.'
