Admin History:
The Newington Waterworks, on Albert Avenue were erected by D. P. Garbutt in 1874, and transferred to the Newington Water Company, of which he was director. A year later, in 1875, the company was authorised to supply water to the St. John's, Newland and Newington areas of Hull. The waterworks were closed down after the company was taken over by the Hull Corporation under the Newington Water Order, 1893.
