Description

Admin History:
The 1871 Hull Tramways Act saw the authorisation to construct 7 miles of horse drawn tramways across the town, along Holderness Road, the Old Town, Spring Bank, Hessle Road, Beverley Road and Anlaby Road. These routes were opened between 1875-1877 and operated by the Hull Street Tramway Company. However, the company struggled financially, and in 1889 it went into liquidation and was eventually bought by the Hull Municipal Corporation in 1896.
