- Sculcoates Board Year books can be found at L.339.1. Within C TED/1/15 are some Boarded Out Childrens' Accounts, which had been taken over from the Sculcoates Poor Law Union by the City Council's Education Department. However, these contain personal sensitive information, please see staff regarding access. At C PRS are the rate books for the parish of Sculcoates which covered part of the area of the Poor Law Union. Hilary Tyson produced a book entitled 'Hessle Cottage Homes' from letters sent to the local press which can be found at L.362.73. Within the book 'A Breath of Sculcoates' at reference L.9.75 (DUP) is an article on the workhouse. Former Hull City Archivist, Geoff Oxley, wrote a general book on the subject, 'Poor Relief in England and Wales, 1601-1834' and there is a book relating to the Poor Law in the Hull area entitled 'The care of the poor in Kingston-Upon-Hull in the Nineteenth Century' by Anne E Reynolds at reference L.339.1.
